Mana Pools National Park is in the far north of Zimbabwe, situated on the south bank and islands of the mighty Zambezi River forming the border with Zambia. It is home to 100 iconic African mammals, more than 450 bird species and it has the highest concentration of hippos and crocodiles in the country. There are large herds of elephants and predators including the endangered wild dogs.
Hwange is the largest natural reserve in Zimbabwe. Its grasslands and mopane woods are home to one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, especially elephant and buffalo. With its all year round viewing and monitored access to water, it is a vast landscape with so much to see. It is also home to the infamous lion Cecil, whose progeny will continue to thrive for years to come.
Located on the Zambezi River, Lake Kariba is the largest artificial lake and reservoir in the world. It is a wildlife haven with abundant crocodile and hippos and over 40 species of fish. Sport fishing and boating are popular attractions along with neighbouring Matusadona National Park where the stunning mountains and vast plains are home to elephants, lion, buffalo and black rhino.
Matobo is in southwest Zimbabwe and is best known for its incredible balancing rock formations and is the resting place of Cecil Rhodes, founder of former British colony Rhodesia. Known as the biblical land, it is now a protected area for black and white rhino. It reportedly also has the highest concentration of leopards as well as swooping black and bateleur eagles.
Considered the better side to view the Falls, the town of Victoria Falls is the best location to enjoy everything this incredible park has to offer.
